Ed Porter has been a teacher at Santa Cruz High School since 1980,
pioneering the first computer classes in Santa Cruz County. He was
instrumental in starting a staff-based policy making board, the
Management Team. Through this team, the staff is developing modern
democratic management techniques.
Ed Porter's business and industry experience are great assets on
the Council. Becoming a licensed Flight Instructor over 25 years ago
was one of his most challenging accomplishments. He has brought that
attention to critical detail to the Santa Cruz City Council. In the
1970's he worked as a senior Aerospace Engineer at the Satellite Control
Facility in Sunnyvale. During the 1980's he operated a computer business
downtown on Pacific Avenue.
