For a quarter century, I have served as a Santa Cruz teacher. I am active in the political process with support of many environmental and neighborhood groups.

During four years on the City Council, I’ve consistently worked for seniors and youth. I’ve voted to protect heritage trees because we need to keep Santa Cruz a "Tree City". I believe in transparency and openness for our public governmental process. The people of Santa Cruz, not a handful of leaders, must determine our shared vision of the future.

I have consistently championed progressive values and ideals, am committed to protecting the environment and the Greenbelt, support alternatives to auto gridlock, and believe in the integrity of our neighborhoods. At DeAnza, I led the fight for seniors against predatory landlords.

I worked hard to insure that the Nueva Vista housing would be built. I voted for it on every step. I made sure that the City and Mercy Housing assisted the residents before it was built and during the construction.

Nine former mayors and our current and former County Supervisors support my candidacy because I‘m committed to keeping Santa Cruz environmentally sound and a sustainable community.

Durante un cuarto de siglo, he trabajado como maestro en Santa Cruz. Estoy activo en el proceso político y cuento con el apoyo de muchos grupos ambientales y vecinales. Durante cuatro años en el concejo de la ciudad, he trabajado con constancia para los ancianos y los jóvenes, voté por proteger los árboles de nuestro patrimonio, apoyé la Sunshine Law (ley sobre transparencia), y me opuse a las reuniones cerradas del concejo.
